How we invented Google Drive

Long before the Google Drive buzz hit the Interwebz, there was little innovation in the cloud storage sector. While personal files were already being saved on the net, the way of interacting with files was pretty much business as usual. You couldn’t access files from your web-based email client to attach them to emails and there was limited support to share with friends on your social network. If you didn’t have the required bandwidth or software to access videos, audio or office files on your cloud storage, the promise of “access-everywhere” was far from the truth. Our vision of an effortless file management was different; that’s why we started doctape back in 2010 ! It’s interesting to see how now in 2012, one of the global players is starting to embrace what we have long believed to be the natural evolution of cloud storage. We are amazed it didn’t happen sooner and that other competitors have been slow to innovate in this direction.

The announcement of Google Drive is just another confirmation for us that we’ve choosen the right path. We’re excited to see how others plan to catch up and we’re looking forward to further disrupt traditional file management.
